It is no secret that the term “self-care” has become popular and very important. Experts and people around us can’t stress it enough. But what really is self-care…self can be defined as the practice of taking action to improve one’s own health. It is important to note that health is very holistic, in this case, as such, we should always look to improve our physical, mental and spiritual well being.
Here are five (5 ) daily activities that in which you can find and enjoy self-care:
- Preparing a meal from scratch
A simple breakfast or lunch preparation can be very fulfilling and not mention healthy as you’re in total control of what goes inside your body. Not only that, you’re being active and some, myself included, enjoys every bit of preparing a meal; it relaxes you.
2. Shower time
Early morning and night time showers are my favourites. There is something about water washing your body and music playing in the background. It takes you to another place spiritually and mentally. Regular showers help to improve your mood also.
3. Netflix and Chill…alone
Yes, you read that right. “Me time” is very important, I particularly enjoy watching my favourite shows and movies all alone. It has also become my daily routine, to enjoy snacking and a glass of wine while my favourite show is on. Not only does it keep your mind at ease, but you can learn new things and new ideas.
4. Working Out
I have been away from the gym for a while not, but doesn’t mean my workout routine as stopped. I have been enjoying different aerobic exercises, to improve my mood and overall physical health. YouTube is my number go-to place for sample tutorials on how to get those exercises in. Here is one of my favorite videos.
As simple as it sounds our bodies need rest to heal, rejuvenate and to remain healthy and strong. I love my nap times, no only it is important to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep but you can enjoy a few hours during days in sleep heaven.
