I decided to go on a road trip for a entire day because of everything and nothing. The idea actually came to mind over the weekend and we put everything together in just a couple of days to make it happen. I planned on it because I needed the escape and just wanted to see a new environment for a change; plus I knew it would be fun! I have always seen movies about road trips and thought to myself…how much I want to do that some day. I really needed the reminder that there are so many other things out there that matters and worth it. It wasn’t the perfect road trip but it was good and you should definitely plan one too. Here is why…
A clear head space was all I needed, when I first had this trip in mind. Work can be hectic sometimes, so I try to do other things to take my mind off work, my full time job, that is, aside from blogging. I must say this road trip gave me more than a clear head space. The freedom, the scenery, the sense of hope, happiness and the joy it all brings, everyone deserves to know what that feels like.
We left out as early as we could so that we were able to make the most of the day. We traveled through quite a number of cities on the north east coast side of the island. I wasn’t interested in anything else throughout the entire journey, I just wanted to sit there and drown my thoughts into the music, while the wind whistles in my ears and my eyes taking in all the beauty surrounding me. I tried to zone out much of the cyber world and texting as I possibly could. Just me, my thoughts and the road underneath.
Even if it was just a few hours, I was able to think about something else other than the norm. Making random stops, seeing places I have never seen before, which was what made it more exciting. If you ever decide on going on a road trip, I am sure you will love it.
