I really do not eat out very often as I would love to, so whenever I get the chance to, I try my best to enjoy it as much as I can. There is nothing wrong with spending a night out eating and enjoying the good ambiance of fine dining.
I spent last Sunday evening having dinner at the Usain Bolt Tracks and Records in Kingston; where I was visiting for the first time.
I thought that I should share my experience, just in case you and your loved ones decide to pop up in Kingston or take a trip to Jamaica and will be looking for places to go and eat.
Usain Bolt’s Tracks and Records
My boyfriend and I went to have dinner at the restaurant. Firstly, the ambiance of the restaurant lives up to its name, we were greeted upon entrance by a lady who checked for availability of seats for two. After seats became available, she ushered us to our seats and we were then greeted a few minutes later by our waitress. She handed us the drink and meal menus and two glasses of water.
Appetizer – Red Peas Soup
After scanning through the menus, we decided on what we would like to order. As a lover of soup, I went ahead and ordered the red peas soup as my appetizer, which came with tossed bread.
I must say the soup did not disappoint at all, it was well seasoned and flavoured and rich in colour and taste.
I then ordered curried seafood as my main course, which included scallaps, shrimp and fish and was served with white rice, side salad, tostones and mango chutney and white rice.
Main meal – Curried Seafood dish
The the curried seafood mix was my favourite, for someone who is very skeptical about eating curry outside of my home, I decided to take a big leap and give it a try, it was very rich, tasty, delicious, and well seasoned. The seafood was well cooked and melted in my mouth with each bite.
I can be skeptical about salads but the right dressing can make a big difference. The salad included lettuce, cucumber and orange, the dressing bought it the taste, as it had the orange flavouring. The mango chutney that came with the white rice was my least favourite, I did not liked it as much. As for the tostones they were okay, nothing big there.
Drink – Fantasy
Finally, I ordered the fantasy drink for my beverage, if you are not into alcoholic beverages, this is not for you. Apart from the distinct alcoholic taste, it was very refreshing.
As for the desserts, we did not have any desserts because we were way too full. But, just in case, you wanted to know what my boyfriend had and wants to see what certain dishes looks like.I took a few pictures of his meal to share with you guys.
