As the New Year comes along, one of the many things I look forward are new episodes and new seasons of TV Shows. I love TV shows, particularly the ones that are captivating, interesting and suspenseful. So many TV Show have left me in 2015 wanting more and anxious to know what is going to happen next. I have a personal list that I would recommend to anyone is are interested in TV shows are well. My list is very diverse. My list covers many categories such as; drama, thriller, Fantasy, Sci Fi, action and more…
Here are some TV shows you should watch in 2016:
I recently started watching Quantico, It was recommended to me by a follower of my Twitter page and also by a friend, I decided it must be interesting if I have been receiving so many recommendations about it. Quantico is all about the lives of young FBI recruits who have come to the “Quantico” base in Virginia for 21 weeks of training to become special agents. I get that Quantico borrowed How To Get Away With Murder, by showing what happens and then has follow up episodes which leads to what had already happen, revealing everyone’s secret in the process.
The series’ protagonist is Alex Parrish (Priyanka Chopra), who is suspected of committing a terrorist attack. Flashbacks tell her story and the ones of her fellow recruits at the FBI Academy in Quantico.
Game of Thrones
I have always seen social media rants about GOT until I finally decided to watch in June 2015. I finished all seasons in just five days. I love love this TV Show, one of my all time favourites. It is very different and captivating.
You can see more of the love I share for this show here: Game of Thrones: Stark Family
For your information, The series is set on the fictional continents of Westeros and Essos, and interweaves several plot lines with a large ensemble cast. The first narrative arc follows a civil war among several noble houses for the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms; the second covers the attempts to reclaim the throne by the exiled last scion of the realm’s deposed ruling dynasty; the third chronicles the rising threat of the impending winter and the legendary creatures and fierce peoples of the North.
How to Get Away With Murder
Another one of favourites and also one that is different and very interesting. Another Shonda Rhimes written show, along with Scandal and Grey’s Anatomy. It is well put together and will have your mouth left opened wide after each episode. HTGAWM stars Viola Davis as a law professor at a prestigious Philadelphia university who, with five of her students, becomes entwined in a murder plot.
Scandal as the suggests is centered around Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) who is a former White House Communications Director for the President of the United States who has left to start her own crisis management firm, Olivia Pope & Associates. Olivia has decided to dedicate her life to protecting the public images of the nation’s elite but is finding that no matter how hard she tries, she cannot leave parts of her past behind. Not only is this one is well written but surprises after surprises each episode are just all you need as reasons to tune in.
I started watching Power, just a little after I completed GOT in the summer. Power is produced by the rapper Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson which has helped to create all the buzz about the series. The series follows James St. Patrick, nicknamed “Ghost,” owner of a popular New York City nightclub. In addition, he is a major player in one of the city’s biggest illegal drug networks. He struggles to balance these two lives, and the balance topples when he realizes he wants to leave the drug ring in order to support his legitimate business, and commit to his mistress.
I am sure well all know about Empire by now, but just in case you have not, I got you! Empire It centers on a hip hop music and entertainment company, Empire Entertainment, and the drama among the members of the founders’ family as they fight for control of the company.
The show was created by Lee Daniels and Danny Strong, and stars Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson. Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard), a former drug dealer now turned hip hop mogul and CEO of Empire Entertainment, learns he has ALS. His life begins to cave in around him after his past sins come back to haunt him following his diagnosis. Lucious, looking to groom one of his three sons Andre (Trai Byers), Jamal (Jussie Smollett), and Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) to take over the family business, pits them against each other.

Pretty Little Liars
I started watching PLL just the summer before started University, I remember I used to watch episodes after episodes each day, it was that captivating and suspenseful; I was just anxious to see what is going to happen next. Set in the small town of Rosewood, the series follows the lives of four girls, Spencer Hastings, Aria Montgomery, Hanna Marin, and Emily Fields, whose clique falls apart after the disappearance of their leader, Alison DiLaurentis.
One year later, the estranged friends are reunited as they begin receiving messages from a mysterious figure named “A”, who threatens to expose their deepest secrets, including ones they thought only Alison knew. At first, they think it’s Alison herself, but after her body is found, the girls realize that someone else is planning on ruining their lives.
I almost gave on the series, after years of waiting, then”A” was finally revealed in season 6, season 7 premiers Tuesday. January 12th, 2016 on ABC, which show glimpses of someone else being after Alison, I can’t wait to watch!
I started out watching Gotham in November of last year (2015), yes I have been busy! Gotham is centered around the years before “Batman”. The idea evolved not only to include the Wayne character, but also to tell the origin stories of several Batman villains, including the Penguin, the Riddler, Catwoman,Poison Ivy,Two-Face,the Scarecrow,Mr. Freeze,Hugo Strange and the Joker. What I found most interesting about Gotham is that we are able to see how most of the Villans came about.
The Vampire Diaries
I must say, I have been on and off with VD over the years, until I am finally up-to-date, I guess I could let it go, not knowing how it ended. Surprisingly Elena (Nina Dobrev) has been from series in its latest season (7) and I have been interested just the same or even more, what I found most interesting is how the main character was not involved and the creators were still able to give us an amazing story. Amazing! Just for some of us who may not know much about VD.
The Vampire Diaries takes place in Mystic Falls, Virginia, a fictional small town haunted and surrounded by supernatural beings such as vampires, werewolves and witches. The narrative of the series follows the protagonist Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) as she falls in love with vampire Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley). As the series progresses, Elena finds herself drawn to Stefan’s brother Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder), resulting in a horrible series of events.
Which is a spin-off from the Vampire Diaries, has held its own and now has a special place in my heart.
The originals centers around the Mikaelson siblings, Klaus (Joseph Morgan), Elijah (Daniel Gillies), and Rebekah (Claire Holt) who are the “original vampires”. Also, the werewolf Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) who is pregnant with Klaus’s child. The show begins with the original siblings returning to the city of New Orleans for the first time since 1919. Having originally built the city, they had been forced to flee from their vengeful father. In their absence, Klaus’s protégé, Marcel (Charles Michael Davis), took charge of the city. Klaus resolves that they must take down Marcel and get back the city that once belonged to them. While doing that they must also protect their city from a war brewing between vampires, werewolves and witches.
