New year and another blog feature. This time around it is with one the first persons I reached out to when decided on starting a blog. She was very friendly and willing when I contacted her about blogging. She provided very helpful tips that still bare in mind even today. I love reading her blog. This feature is more than overdue. It is my pleasure to introduce you all to Ashleigh, owner of (Ashleigh Em) http://www.ashleighem.com/
1. Hi Ashleigh, please describe yourself using five words.
Ashleigh: Passionate, Determined, Creative, Understanding, Dreamer
2. Why do you blog? Is blogging your hobby or the pathway to a career?
Ashleigh: I blog so that I can have a creative platform to share the things I love with others around the world and form friendships regardless of location. That was the main goal when I very first started. What started out as a hobby, and still is, has evolved into many different opportunities that I could only dream of. I am not a full-time blogger, but I have been afforded the opportunity of being a stylist for media personalities, working on different fashion-related projects, etc. and I believe the presence of my blog has contributed to that.
3. Describe your blogging style
Ashleigh: I’ve never really thought about having a particular style so to speak, but I would classify it as very personal and relaxed. I just write however I’m feeling at the moment.
4. Name your top 3 fashion icons?
Ashleigh: Rihanna, Olivia Palermo, and Kourtney Kardashian
5. What are some of your favourite fashion trends?
Ashleigh: There is something about the off-the-shoulder trend that I cannot resist. Ever! I also love a good block heel because they are so comfy.
6. How do you build a relationship with your readers?
Ashleigh: The most important step is to provide them with interesting and credible content so that they can look forward to more. I try to be as interactive as possible and ask questions. My readers are also encouraged to send me an email regarding anything and they will receive a response. Social media plays a huge role in the communication process, but I am looking forward to starting a newsletter this year!
7. What are you most excited about right at this moment?
Ashleigh: Carnival in Jamaica!
8. What was your biggest lesson of 2016?
Ashleigh: The sum of the little things matter much more than the big things. As human beings, we often think that one day we’re going to wake up and the goals we set for ourselves will be achieved just like that, not realizing it takes baby steps over a long period of time to actually get to where you want to. It’s a process that I am slowly but surely learning to appreciate.
9. What’s your favourite quote?
Ashleigh: This became my favourite quote just last year when I was preparing a speech for students back at my former high school – “You can’t change the wind, but you can adjust the sails”. So simple, but it really encourages me to remain positive and never give up no matter the obstacles.
10. Is there anything big in store for your blog in 2017, that you’d like to share?
Ashleigh: I will definitely be improving on content and post consistency this year. Compared to last year (I barely even blogged!), this is a really BIG thing for me. In addition to that, I do have a few collaborations with some amazing brands that I am really looking forward to. Stay tuned!
