10 Beauty Mistakes You Probably Make

16

Hey loves! 🙂 so good to be back again. I missed you guys so much ♥. So let’s not get too mushy lol and get things running again. So I know I  always  give great beauty tips and ideas that we should be trying and experimenting with…well, today we will be taking another route and looking at things from the other side. I am going to share with you guys some beauty mistakes we all are probably making, maybe not all but I for sure make a few of these mistakes. So, let’s get right into it.

Beauty Mistakes You Probably Make

1. Wearing the same foundation all year round

We should always switch up foundations, especially during the winter and summer months. Our skin gets a little lighter  in the winter and we may get a little darker in the summer. If you are that person whose skin colour does not change during the seasons, great for you, however, the weather itself changes and our skin is typically drier in the winter and oily in the summer, hence we should rotate foundations to suit certain weather conditions.

2. Shading your brows too dark

I for one has seen a lot of people shading their brows way too dark, this is a big no no and in terms of appearance, it is not very attractive at all. What I do is that, I use brown colour pencil, lightly shade it over my shaved brows and then use my fingers to blend a little. Using black pencil is a big turn off especially when it’s way too dark, also depending on your complexion we should all go light when shading our brows. Big beauty mistakes!

3. Not blending your face to your neck

Yes, some of us consider the world as a big play ground but we certainly are not clowns, unless contracted for a kids party…but anyways please let us all blend our faces to our necks. We overly exaggerate our makeup at times and it gives our face such an astonishing colour comparing to our necks, we all want our makeup to look natural, so let’s do it!

4. Applying makeup to dry skin

Another big no no! We should exfoliate at least once a week to keep our faces moist and fresh and get rid of dead skin cells, if not may lead to dry skin. If you apply makeup on dry skin, it will cause flakiness and the makeup will just sit on your face and not necessarily blending in. So we should all exfoliate and then use a moisturizer afterwards.

5. Not cleaning your brushes

Cleanliness is godliness! but it also keeps us from being prone to infections and breakouts. Most of us women use dirty brushes and sponges to apply our makeup. We should all clean our brushes so that our makeup can look fresh when we apply it and also reduce or eliminate breakouts.

6. Not testing makeup before use

These are common beauty mistakes. I am sure we try that red bottom to see if it fits before we buy it! the same applies to our makeup. Ensure that it is right for your skin before using it. We can’t trust what it looks like in the bottle and say it’s a perfect fit. Makeup stores have testers and we should all utilize them.

7. Going crazy on the blush

Yes it gets crazier! again back to us not being clowns…yes? so let’s take our time with the blushes. Blushes are suppose to give your face that glow and make your face look lively. Smile and focus the color of the blush on the apples of the cheeks, then blend backwards towards your temples, to ensure there are no harsh lines. Also using the right colour which matches our makeup is keen.

8. Overdone eyelashes

We really don’t want to make our eyes look like they have wings and I must say…seeing overdone eyelashes is a bit scary and I am sure that they are heavy too. We all want to look gorgeous but less really is more. Add just a few eyelashes will help make your eyes pop and bring out your entire look.

9. Not using sunscreen

The UV rays from the sun can really damage our skin but, we have to be careful because sunlight also benefits to us. We should apply sunscreen if we will be out in the sun for too long or if we don’t cover up much, like for example’ when we are going to the beach. Even when the weather is gloomy and cloudy we should still apply a little sunscreen as the sun’s rays can still penetrate our skins.

10. Too much lip-gloss

We must admit that it is a bit unattractive when we see women wear too much lip gloss, particularly glittery lip gloss. We should go lighter regarding our lip glosses and this can also help prevent food or dust particles to stick to our lips.

ohmyGod I’m so guilty here! I’ve been using the same foundation for over a year now, don’t apply sunscreen… And definitely overuse the blush.

These were definitely tips I should use! Thank you!!!!

Hi Sabrina, I am guilty of some of these too, but we have to fix these habits.
Thanks for commenting 🙂 and you’re welcome!

I have two foundations, one light and one dark. When applying, I mix the two of them so that it matches the bottom of my chin and then I apply. It might be more of hassle, but I don’t have to buy a different color each season. I also don’t wear foundation everyday!
I am guilty of not cleaning my brushes very often, though!

Hi Fabiola, I mix foundations and I don’t wear makeup everyday, so my products last longer.

I agree with a lot of this, not blending face and neck together….what are some people thinking?! Or trying to apply it to dry skin…ugh! Not washing your brushes is just gross! But wearing the same foundation year round…I do this. But I use a self tanner year round, so my skin color stays consistent. Great post!

Hi Jaime, thank you for your feed back, I think most of us practice using the same foundation all year round but a little change up never hurt nobody.

Great tips! I know a girl who does her eyebrows so thick and dark, it is a bit scary but it’s weird cuz she can still pull it off somehow lol. Maybe because she is truly stunning! Because I have never seen that look go well on anyone else lol.

    1. Delaine says

Hi Cindy, thick and dark is just scary generally but she managed to pull it off, great for her!
